Tributes have been paid to the president of the Lincs ECB Premier League,Harry Pougher, who died on Saturday aged 73.
Mr Pougher first represented Lincolnshire at county level aged just 18 - while at school in Scunthorpe - and played a key role in the county from then on.
He also taught PE at Robert Pattinson School, and was president at Lindum Cricket Club in Lincoln - where he had spent 30 years as the club’s chairman.
Lindum CC announced the sad news on their website on Sunday, stating: “It is with deep regret and great sadness that we write to inform you that Harry Pougher, our Club President, passed away yesterday evening. Our thoughts are with Steph and the Pougher family at this time.
“Probably the greatest Lindum CC servant of all, Harry will be sadly missed by everyone who has ever been involved with Lindum CC. However he will never be missing from our Cricket Club and our hearts.”
Ann Boulton, secretary of the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League, added her condeolences.
She said: “We were saddened to hear of the death of the league’s president Harry Pougher on Saturday.
“Harry did a great deal of work in helping set up the league and has been a staunch worker and supporter on its behalf over the past 15 seasons.”
Pete Ford, fixture secretary of Chattertons McKinnells League said: “Harry had been a major force in Lincolnshire cricket since first representing the county while still a schoolboy at Scunthorpe Grammar School, aged 18.
“Quiet and unassuming, he was the driving force of youth cricket at the Lindum and his strong leadership will be greatly missed.”
