Your Weekly Internet Cocktail Hour

Published On February 28, 2014 | By Sarah Parker | The Boys Club Guide

My darlings it has happened: Our time together here has come to an end. I have so enjoyed each and every minute of it with you. Fear not, because I will still be around the Internet and you may stalk me accordingly on Twitter or Instagram or my old Myspace page that is probably still around because I don’t think I ever deleted it? I thought, in the meantime, we might take things out with a bang.

Reasons to Drink (in case you do these things by occasion):

Put on your favorite bittersweet ballad or sweet heavy metal dance tunes, whichever it is that you fancy, and let’s do this goodbye party RIGHT and with the classics:

1. The copper mugs, while lovely, are optional my friends (but feel free to buy me a set they’re the only glassware I don’t have): Moscow Mule

2. What is a Sidecar? A gussied up cognac sour? Well it’s delicious, and you should try all the classics at least once.

3. Ah, now we begin to enter the territory of my true favorites. This is about the sweetest cocktail I like and if you haven’t heard of it, I’m guessing you’re 12 and entirely too young to be drinking anyway, what are you doing on this blog. Um. Anyway: Try an Old Fashioned. If you’re 21 and not 12.

4. Of course I couldn’t resist and I had to leave you with my absolute favorite: The Perfect Manhattan. Cheers, darlings!

Around the Internet | Booze-related and otherwise:

To read: Though I’ve grown into more of a bourbon woman, whiskey was once my tipple of choice and I feel I owe this much to the younger me. Raise your glass and toast the young woman who once loved nothing more than Jameson, for she knew no better. Oh and read this: The Whiskey Dive: The Ultimate Guide to Whiskey Styles.

To watch: It occurs to me that maybe you don’t know the beauty of My Drunk Kitchen and that hurts my heart a little and makes me feel like a terrible Internet Spirit Guide. And so I give you where it all began: My Drunk Kitchen Ep. 1: Butter Yo Shit. You’re welcome.

The weirdest thing I found this week: I will never understand fashion and I suppose I should just accept that. EXCEPT THAT THIS HAUNTS MY DREAMS.

Your final weekly tip on How to be a Man, From a Woman: Looking to Emasculate a Man? Open His Door for Him! I tricked you. That is actually an article for all man-hating feminists looking to emasculate men. SURPRISE THAT IS ALL OF US. *cue evil laughter and the popping of champagne corks and the falling of sweet, sweet man tears*

I really have very much enjoyed my time with you all here in this place and I have especially enjoyed having a space to share all of the treasures (and, frankly, horrors) that I have found on my Internet journeying. These things will not disappear entirely, but will roll over to a new home, so don’t disparage if you had pinned my articles to stare at lovingly in the future. I’m probably only talking to my mom at this point (HI MOM) and she doesn’t even really know how to use Pinterest, but I love you anyway mom and thanks for your support.

Do know that you are all lovely and wonderful. Please do come bother me on Twitter and Instagram, but probably not on my old Myspace page, and look for me around in other Internet places. You never know where I might turn up, really.

Until next time, be good to yourself and others.
