Nintendo files patent for Game Boy titles on mobile

Nintendo has reportedly filed for a patent to play Game Boy titles on mobile devices.
According to Polygon, the filing is an update of an original patent filed in 2012.

The filing could be a sign that the company wants to enter the mobile space, or Nintendo's way of legally protecting its back catalogue of games.
Nintendo is yet to announce plans to release old games on mobile, having previously denied reports claiming it had mini-games in the works for mobile platforms.
A Nintendo spokesperson said handheld and console control inputs are difficult to replicate on touch-only devices.
The company recently pulled a game from the 3DS eShop after an exploit was discovered allowing players to run homebrew games on the 3DS.
