2001: A Space Odyssey voted greatest sci-fi movie of all time

2001: A Space Odyssey has been voted the greatest science fiction movie of all time by Digital Spy readers.
Stanley Kubrick's 1968 classic narrowly pipped Star Wars films The Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope to first place.
The George Lucas-produced blockbusters occupied second and third place respectively, while Blade Runner placed at number four and Back to the Future completed the top five.
The sci-fi poll top ten is as follows:
1. 2001: A Space Odyssey - 10.16% of votes
2. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - 10.06%
3. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope - 8.60%
4. Blade Runner - 7.40%
5. Alien - 7.09%
6. Back to the Future - 6.87%
7. Aliens - 6.67%
8. The Matrix - 5.51%
9. Inception - 4.67%
10. Terminator 2: Judgment Day - 4.11%
2001 is now showing again in UK cinemas after being re-released through the BFI's Days of Fear and Wonder programme, which runs until December 31.
