A former justice minister from Gambia, Fatou Bensouda, became the new prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague on Friday, replacing Luis Moreno-Ocampo. The court’s mandate is to investigate large-scale and systematic atrocities. It is recognized by 121 countries. Ms. Bensouda, left, who has been deputy prosecutor for the past eight years, said that she intended to expand investigations of large-scale sexual abuse and crimes involving children in conflicts.
