Re “Wondering How Far Magazines Must Fall,” by David Carr (The Media Equation, column, Aug. 13):

There is another reason you see many people in doctors’ waiting rooms reading their phones instead of magazines. Remember that people in doctors’ waiting rooms are usually ill.

Although I love magazines and hope that they are around forever, I never read magazines that have been touched by all the patients’ hands.
