The Square Land Area value of each country generally reflects its overall military strength as larger swathes of territory produce more goods and people while allowing access to more natural resources and valuable trade routes. Conversely, the greater the Square Land Area coverage, greater the need for homeland defense through the air and on the ground. However, exceptions to this rule include the United Kingdom and Israel whose overall land area does not reflect the capabilities of its fighting force.
