Ross McEwan

CEO, RBS

New Zealand banker Ross McEwan is the current CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, one of the world’s largest banks. Despite failing one of his university accounting modules twice, he managed to graduate with a degree in Business and Human Resources from Massey University in New Zealand, and his subsequent successes show his post-university endeavours to have been anything but a failure. McEwan worked for some time in life insurance and held a senior position at Kiwi stockbrokers First NZ Capital Securities. When he was appointed CEO of RBS in 2013, amazingly he had only been in banking for around ten years, having worked previously for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
