This event, hosted by Spain’s Santa Maria Polo Club, is considered one of the four top polo tournaments in the world
Starting in late July with the Bronze Cup, then continuing into August with the Silver and Gold Cup, this feast of world class polo culminates on the last Sunday in August, with the Gold Cup final.
Sotogrande hosts the best players in the world: the Gold Cup totals 120 points of the world polo ranking for players, as well as 80 points in The Silver Cup. The tournament boasts 12 teams in the high handicap category, 14 teams in the medium handicap and 6 in the low handicap, from 17 different countries.
Located on the coast near Cadiz, the club was founded in 1965. The club now boasts nine polo fields in three different locations: Los Pinos, Río Sotogrande and Puente de Hierro. With a large shopping village and extensive bars and restaurants, the club attracts over 70,000 visitors during the summer season.
