The British are basking in their success, both in hosting, and competing in, the London 2012 Olympics. Team GB excelled: they finished the Olympics an impressive third in the medals table, with 29 golds, 17 silvers and 19 bronzes, an outstanding total of 54 medals, beaten only by China and the USA.
