Joint Managing Directors, Avalon Entertainment

In addition to representing many of Britain’s leading comedians, presenters, writers, directors, producers and actors, Avalon Entertainment has a number of subsidiaries specialising in television production, distribution and personal management. This means that Allen-Turner and Thoday, as joint managing directors, exert an enormous influence over the entire British broadcasting industry. Thoday set up Avalon in 1989 while a promoter, and hired Turner who was then a student entertainment officer at Middlesex Polytechnic. Since the company’s foundation, the pair have worked to establish one of the largest talent management agencies in the world.
