Rabbis are teachers and spiritual guides. Rabbis can be teachers in schools or Talmudic academies or can act as spiritual leaders of Synagogue communities.

They can run outreach movements and charities, act as hospital/ army/prison/university chaplains or in some cases, hold down everyday jobs without using their Rabbinic qualification.

How to Address a Rabbi

Rabbis are addressed and referred to in speech as, for example, Rabbi Cohen.

The recommended style of address is as follows:
