Sir Paul Nurse

Geneticist and President of the Royal Society

Eminent geneticist Sir Paul Nurse has been president of the Royal Society since 2010. His ground-breaking work and research into the factors which control the division and shape of cells earned him the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2001 and the Royal Society Copley Medal in 2005. Sir Paul has held numerous respected positions including Professor of Microbiology at the University of Oxford and CEO of Cancer Research UK and the Imperial Cancer Research fund. He is currently also director and chief executive of biomedical research centre the Francis Crick Institute.
