António Horta-Osório

Portugese-born banker Antonio Horta-Osorio graduated from university in Lisbon with a degree in management and business administration before completing further study at INSEAD where he won the Henry Ford II Prize for the best student in the year, and finally Harvard Business School. He joined Citibank in Portugal where he became vice president and head of capital markets, and was also a guest professor at his alma mater, the Catholic University of Portugal. In 1997, after various posts in New York with Goldman Sachs, and Brazil with Santander, he became executive chairman of Banco Santander Portugal. He joined Lloyds in 2011 as an executive director, and in less than two months was made CEO. He was awarded the Euromoney Best Banker Award in 2013.
