Liam Maxwell

Chief Technology Officer, HM Government

Government Chief Technology Officer since 2012, Liam Maxwell is the man in charge of driving successful innovation in digital public services. A former head of ICT at Eton College, Maxwell was also Conservative councillor in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead from 2007 where he encouraged the use of open source and online services to streamline government services. He was the founder of Holyport College and has been a visiting professor in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He has been in the Cabinet Office since 2011 and was formerly engaged by the government’s Efficiency and Reform Group where he provided expertise on the use of technology to provide more efficient, cheaper options. He has been Chief Technology Officer since 2012 and has a stellar record for successful innovation within the public sector.
