Ralph Fiennes

Actor

Undeniably one of Britain’s finest actors around today, Ralph Fiennes is known for his stunning character performances in every film in which he features, from Schindler’s List to Harry Potter. The eldest of six children, Fiennes grew up in Ireland and Salisbury, and studied painting before he decided to pursue acting. He began his career on the London stage, achieving prominence in the Royal Shakespeare Company, making his film debut in 1992 as Heathcliff in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. It was in 1993 that Fiennes achieved recognition for his film work in Schindler’s List, for which he won a BAFTA and an Oscar nomination. Since then, films including The English Patient, The End of the Affair, The Constant Gardener and The Reader have allowed Fiennes to showcase the different faces of his talent, and he made his directorial debut in 2013 with Coriolanus. He has also been set to play M in the future James Bond films since Bond’s previous outing Skyfall.
