Mark Pearson

Founder, MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, MarkCo Group

Mark Pearson was brought up on a council estate in Liverpool where he, his sister and mother were often forced into domestic violence shelters. Burdened by money troubles, Pearson’s mother was reduced to cutting out newspaper coupons to feed her family, which Pearson states later inspired him to found My Voucher Codes, the first UK website of its kind to offer discounts on everything from restaurants to fashion. After working as a chef, Pearson launched the website in 2006 and ran it from his bedroom until 2009. By the age of 34 he was able to sell his market- leading online discount and deals business MarkCo (the parent company of My Voucher Codes) for £55 million. A former Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, he still has stakes in around eight other firms, an inspiring example of the steely resolve needed to achieve success.
