Sir Anthony Seldon

Schoolmaster and Historian

He may be stepping down as headmaster of Wellington College later this year, but Sir Anthony Seldon has had one of the most influential and high profile educational careers of recent times. After studying at Oxford, LSE and King’s, Sir Anthony embarked on a career as a teacher at schools including Whitgift School in Croydon, Tonbridge School, St Dunstan’s College and Brighton College, where he was headmaster. He joined Wellington College in 2006 as its thirteenth master and made a real name for himself setting up the Wellington Academy. As well as his work in education, Seldon is also author of over 25 books on history, politics and education, and was the co-founder of the Centre for Contemporary British History which promotes the study of post-1945 British history. He was knighted in 2014 for his services to education and modern political history.
