Tom Steinberg

DIRECTOR, MYSOCIETY

Steinberg's management of MySociety – which makes ‘digital tools that enable citizens to exert power over institutions and decision makers’ – has earned widespread admiration during the decade in which he has been director. The charity has spawned such citizen-empowering projects as TheyWorkForYou.com, PledgeBank, FixMyStreet and WriteToThem. His 2007 Power of Information Review for the Cabinet Office resulted in the creation of the government’s Power of Information Task Force. From 2010 - 2012 he was a member of the government’s Transparency Board and has written policy papers for both Labour and Conservative MPs and ministers.
