Stephen Fry

It is hard to pin down the multi-talented Stephen Fry, but despite his huge influence elsewhere, he remains synonymous with Twitter, where he has 8.2 million followers. After overcoming a troubled childhood during which he was expelled from school and sent to prison for three months, he gained a place to read English Literature at the University of Cambridge. Fry was one of the first celebrities to realise Twitter’s potential and, despite multiple threats to quit, has maintained his appeal: a remarkable achievement in a medium supposedly based on ephemerality. Fry has used his influence to achieve repeated successes in his charity and campaigning work for mental health.
