Honeymoon Considerations
The time of year and budget will dictate suitable locations as well as the length of time spent on honeymoon.
- Most couples now spend two to three weeks away on holiday; some seize the opportunity and use the honeymoon as a launch pad for extended travels.
- Comfort, luxury and privacy are essential requirements for the initial part of the honeymoon as the couple are likely to be exhausted.
- Many couples choose to unwind in a hotel or at home (there may even be a post-wedding lunch) before jetting off. The days of leaping onto a flight immediately after the wedding are long gone.
- The couple should pack well in advance: they are unlikely to have the time to do this properly during the hectic build-up to the wedding.
- The bride's tickets and passport must be in the same name (either maiden or married).
- The newly-weds should make let airlines know that they are on honeymoon: there may be the chance of upgrades.
- Equally, the honeymoon hotel will usually offer the newly-weds special dispensations and treats.
- The couple should go for the best they can afford - honeymoon suites and packages are usually very special and romantic.
- Some hotels offer inclusive honeymoon deals. These can be a sensible and economic option.
