Presents and Hats
Space should be allocated for guests to leave any wedding presents they bring along on the day, as well as an area for ladies to safely leave hats.
Wedding Presents
Although most wedding presents are bought from a list and arrive at a later date, some guests will still bring one along. Also, it is popular to bring a wedding card or extra little present on the day.
- Make sure there is an obvious area at the reception venue where guests can leave presents. This may require an extra table.
- If the venue is not secure or private, then the presents should be moved to a secure area during the reception.
- Someone - usually a bridesmaid or usher - must be responsible for taking them away at the end of the day.
Ladies' Hats
Although not obligatory at modern weddings, many ladies still like to wear a hat. Space must be allocated in which to leave them at the reception. Hats can provide a form of decoration and colour.
- An area in the ladies' lavatory will suffice, or there may be a dedicated cloakroom.
- A spare table can be placed near the entrance to the reception upon which hats can be left.
- String/ribbon with pegs can be hung up in the venue to which ladies can peg their hats, creating a fun and decorative display.
