Neville Brody

GRAPHIC DESIGNER AND DEAN OF COMMUNICATION AT ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART

Neville Brody, the man who gave us The Face in the 1980s, remains a revered figure today. Educated at the London College of Printing and the Hornsey College of Art – now Middlesex University – Brody has established himself as one of the world’s leading graphic designers through his innovative styling and typefaces, which set precedents across sectors. He set out working in record cover designs for artists including Cabinet Voltaire, before moving into magazines. In 1994 he founded Research Studios, which has today opened branches in places as far-flung as Paris, Tokyo, Barcelona and New York, working with clients from Kenzo and Dom Pérignon to Paramount and The Times. He is also the founder of Fontworks and FUSE, a collection of experimental typefaces and posters, and is the current dean of the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art. Brody was also president at D&D until 2013.
