Julie Bentley

Chief Executive, Girlguiding

Julie Bentley is repeatedly cited as one of the charity sector’s truly inspirational chief executives. She was named Britain’s Most Admired Third Sector Chief Executive in the 2014 Third Sector Awards, and one of Britain’s ten most influential female ‘game-changers’ by BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. Already a prominent campaigner for women’s right to abortion following five years at the helm of the Family Planning Association, Bentley took over Girlguiding in 2012 and has subsequently raised hackles by describing Girlguiding as ‘the ultimate feminist organisation’. She has been widely praised for raising the profile of the century-old charity and for championing the importance of giving girls and young women a voice and influence both within Girlguiding and in wider society.
