Known as Zoella, a kind big sister to teens everywhere, 24-year-old Sugg has harnessed the power of YouTube for good, giving makeup tips and tutorials as well as letting people see behind the scenes of the life of a digital star. With a staggering 6.7 million followers on YouTube, 2.6 million Twitter followers and a further 3.6 million followers on Instagram, Sugg wields an influence of which the giants of old media can only dream. Her debut novel, Girl Online, which was launched last November, has since become the fastest-selling book of 2014 and the biggest-selling debut ever. Last year also saw Sugg become a digital ambassador for mental health charity Mind.
