Baby Bridesmaids and Page Boys
Child bridesmaids or pageboys are often nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, or offspring from a previous marriage. Their purpose is, fundamentally, aesthetic.
No one can predict how children will behave on the wedding day, but excitable children never make ideal baby bridesmaids or pages. Those under four are generally too young for the role.
Practically, they have very little to do other than look sweet and follow the bride down the aisle. Flower girls are an alternative to bridesmaids. They walk down the aisle ahead of the bride, scattering petals, and then sit with their parents before joining the recessional.
