Sonia Friedman

Theatre Producer

Having worked in theatre since the 1980s and been awarded numerous Tony and Olivier awards over her career, theatre producer Sonia Friedman has become one of the most powerful voices in British theatre. In 2002 she founded West End and Broadway production company Sonia Friedman Productions, which has been home to some of London and New York’s most successful theatre productions in recent years. Prior to launching her own venture, Friedman worked at the National Theatre and the Ambassador Theatre Group, and also co-founded theatre company Out of Joint in 1993. At the 2014 Olivier Awards, Friedman’s company made history by winning not only the most awards for any producer, but also Best New Play, Best New Musical, Best Play Revival and Best Musical Revival.
