Ben Phillips

Vine Star

A relative newcomer to the scene, 21-year-old Ben Phillips has quickly carved out a huge niche for himself via six-second video sharing app Vine. In less than two years, he has gone from working in his mum’s shoe shop in Cardiff and making Vines for fun in his spare time, to a full-time job creating new Vines. For every second of promoted video, Phillips can hope to earn up to £2,000 from brands which pay him to feature or promote their products, and he has been approached by some huge names including Ford, Spotify and Barclays. Today Phillips has amassed more than 1.3 million subscribers and thus holds huge influence in the new media world, where audiences are increasingly viewing media stars as role models.
