John Roberts

AO World

John Roberts left school with no qualifications and began work for a fitted-kitchen firm as a sales manager. When a friend bet him one pound in a pub that he wouldn’t get round to launching a business, Roberts founded AO World, the online retailer specialising in kitchen appliances. In February last year, the company floated with a valuation of £1.2 billion and the brand continues to gain recognition as it grows in the sector. Over the significant Christmas period, AO World reported flourishing online trading.
