Bob Dudley

Group Chief Executive, BP

Bob Dudley has been with BP, progressing through a number of increasingly senior positions, since 1999 when Amoco Corporation merged with the petroleum giant. Dudley had joined Amoco in 1979 and worked in a variety of engineering and commercial roles, culminating in general manager for strategy and later an equivalent role under BP. After many successful years at BP, he became chief executive officer of TNK-BP, headquartered in Moscow, but returned after relations with Russian colleagues soured and he experienced serious harassment from the Russian authorities. On his return to BP in 2009 he was appointed to the board and role of managing director, overseeing activities in the Americas and Asia, and later took charge of the Gulf Coast Restoration organisation after the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010. A few months later, he was made chief executive.
