The Circuit de Monaco, which is built on the picturesque streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine, is one of the most challenging Formula One tracks, with its many tight turns and changes in elevation. It is considered the ultimate test of driving skills in Formula One.
The F1 Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most famous and popular; its wealthy setting also makes it one of the most glamorous. Dating back to 1929, it is part of the Triple Crown of Motor Sport, together with the Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours.
Since 1929 the fastest average race speed has risen from 80km/h (50 mph) to 142 km/h (88 mph), making it the slowest of all the Formula One championships.
