Laura Bates

Founder, Everyday Sexism Project

The founder of the Everyday Sexism Project Laura Bates is an instrumental force in the fourth wave of feminism. When she unveiled her website Everyday Sexism in April 2012 to showcase women’s daily experiences of gender inequality, she never imagined it would end up with 20 international branches and over 189,000 followers on Twitter, or that it would play such a fundamental role in exposing the inequality, harassment and even violence that women and girls face on a daily basis. Despite receiving threats for speaking out against sexism, she has persevered, and over 80,000 entries later, she has given women worldwide new means to protest.
