Professional

The bride and groom must carefully research different styles and standards of videography. Word of mouth is usually reliable for the best wedding video, a professional should be hired for the day.

Often a wedding videographer will cost nearly as much as a good photographer, but video technology is so developed that it is now seen by many as the 'modern' photo album.

More sophisticated videography packages may include up to three or four videographers on the day. The whole process will be planned in advance to ensure that the whole day is filmed from different perspectives.

The bride and groom should brief the videographer on any specific aspects or people they want filmed.

Considerations

- The couple should ask to see an example of previous work and check what the fee includes.
- The professional should also have the relevant licences and insurance.
- The timings should also be checked, confirming when the videographer will arrive and leave.
- There will be different options, from music choices to the number of copies of the DVD that are made. Ensure that all extras are built into the final quote.
- Check how long the DVD will be: a good editor should cut it down to no more than two hours.
- It is a good idea to have a short synopsis of the day made. This short video can be briefly shown to friends - the full-length version may be several hours of footage.
