Charles Rolls & Tim Warrillow

Founders, Fever Tree

When Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow decided to set up a business together in 2003, it was the first time they had ever met. Warrillow was looking to leave his advertising job to set up his own gin distillery when he went for a coffee with Rolls of Plymouth Gin to get a bit of advice about the business. By the end of the meeting the pair had agreed to launch a premium, artificial sweetener-free tonic water brand and in 2005, inspired by a ‘tonic tastingin America, they set up Fever Tree. Five weeks after launching, they received a call from Waitrose looking to stock their product, and today Fever Tree sells in over 50 countries. 2013 gave the business a turnover of £23 million, and in 2014 it was floated on the London Stock Exchange with a value of £154 million. Unsurprisingly, Rolls and Warrillow have also won two Great Taste awards for their products.
