Jonny Geller

Joint CEO and Managing Director, Books, Curtis Brown

A combination of brilliant daring and sheer luck secured Jonny Geller the break he needed to make it in the demanding world of the literary agent. On finding a fantastic manuscript on the reject pile, Geller, who had been an assistant for the previous two years, made a few surreptitious calls to four of the biggest UK publishers he’d heard of, claiming he was the new agent at Curtis Brown and that he had found a future bestseller. All bid in this secret auction – with Geller’s boss utterly unaware – and by the end of the week the book had sold all over the world and Curtis Brown had made a lot of money. Today he has been a literary agent for more than 15 years, representing some of the biggest and best authors including John le Carré, Tracy Chevalier and David Mitchell, as well as the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
