Zanny Minton Beddoes

Editor, The Economist

Zanny Minton Beddoes has just been appointed to editorship of the Economist, the first woman ever to be so in the entire history of the publication. She has worked extensively in the finance, business and economics sectors, joining the Economist in 1994 as a correspondent for emerging-markets and progressing to economics and later business affairs editor. After graduating from Harvard University where she was a Kennedy scholar, Minton Beddoes became an adviser to Poland’s Minister of Finance before spending two years with the International Monetary Fund as an economist. Throughout her career she has increasingly wielded influence through her writing and television appearances, and her new position secures her as one of the most influential voices in financial journalism.
