The Cambridgeshire Meeting

24.09.15 - 26.09.15
Newmarket Racecourse, Suffolk

The Rowley Mile 'Course of Champions' sets the scene for world class racing at the historic Home of Racing.

The quality of racing during the Cambridgeshire Meeting is exceptional, with a total of three Group 1s - the highest class of race - alongside one Group 2 race and three Group 3 races. Don't forget the spectacle that is the Cambridgeshire Handicap, one of British racing's most famous handicaps, and the race that the meeting is named after.

The opening day, Thursday, features the Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes, a seven-furlong contest for two-year-olds. This race has been won by many fine horses, including Grand Lodge and Milk It Mick, who both went on to win the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, scheduled to take place on Dubai Future Champions Day.

The Group 1 Shadwell Fillies Mile, a contest that sees many outstanding performers make their way to Classic glory the following year, cranks up the action on Friday. The card is packed with other high-class races plus the ultra-competitive Silver Cambridgeshire Handicap for horses that didn't make the field for Saturday's big race, the Cambridgeshire Handicap.

Saturday sees one of the highest class racedays of Newmarket's season, with more than 30 horses hurtling up the Rowley Mile during the Cambridgeshire Handicap, as well as two Group 1 events, the Sun Chariot Stakes for older fillies, and the Cheveley Park Stakes, a race that often identifies Europe's best two-year-old filly over six furlongs.
