Ushers

Good friends or relatives of the groom are usually chosen to be ushers, often along with a relative of the bride, such as her brother. The role of the ushers is often underestimated but they play an important role on the wedding day. The bride and groom should make sure that they are properly briefed on what is expected of them.

The general rule is to have one usher for every 50 wedding guests although many grooms choose more and to involve close friends on the day. A chief usher can also be nominated to work closely with the best man. Sometimes an usher will also fulfil the role of master of ceremonies.
