Chatsworth Country Fair

04.09.15 - 06.09.15
Chatsworth House, Derbyshire

One of Britain's most famous historic houses, the 'Palace of the Peak' makes a fine venue for this lively celebration of the countryside.

The magnificent Chatsworth House in the Peak District, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is given over to a three-day outdoor event celebrating rural life.

Among the offerings at the Chatsworth Country Fair are hot-air balloon and parachuting displays, massed pipe and military bands, and more than 300 craft and trade stands. The Grand Ring hosts a vintage car parade, terrier and ferret racing and more, and there's a clay pigeon shoot, blacksmith's demonstration, archery and sheep-dog trials.

Throughout the fair, guests have access to Chatsworth House itself, built by Bess of Hardwick in the 16th century, to its superb collection of European art, and to its wonderful park and gardens with their stunning water features. The farm and adventure playground are closed but there's a bouncy castle and old-fashioned fairground for family fun.
