John Humphrys

Journalist and Presenter

He has been described more than once as one of Britain’s greatest journalists, and today John Humphrys is still a regular presence on television and radio. Having left school at the age of 15 to become a teenage reporter for the Penarth Times, Humphrys has made a name for himself as one of the most forthright and persistent journalists around, leaving respected politicians quaking in fear at his interviewing ferocity. He has been a presenter of Radio 4’s Today programme since 1987 and has worked as a foreign correspondent in Africa and America, diplomatic correspondent and presenter of the Nine O’clock News, not to mention his current role presenting Mastermind, which he has done since 2003. Humphrys was named Journalist of the Year and in 2003 received a Gold Sony Radio Award.
