Anthony Peter McCoy, OBE

Jockey

At the age of 40, the 19-times champion jockey shows no sign of slowing down. Injury interrupted his quest to achieve the extraordinary target of 300 winners this season – far in excess of his own record of 289 – but AP McCoy remains on target to achieve a twentieth successive title by April. McCoy rode his first winner aged 17 in 1992 and reached the unprecedented milestone of 4,000th in 2013. In 2010, McCoy became the first jockey to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
