Jonathan Downey

Bar Owner and Co-founder, Street Feast

Corporate lawyer turned ‘clubland visionary’ Jonathan Downey traded in his City career to open bars across the world. He now owns a series of fashionable London venues, including the infinitely popular Milk & Honey in Soho. In addition, Downey co-founded Street Feast (with Dominic Cools-Lartigue), London’s revolutionary night market for chefs, restaurants and street food traders. With an extreme rise in recent years in more informal dining experiences, the attraction of the traditional restaurant has been demoted in favour of the street. While working 100-hour weeks at law firm Simmons & Simmons, Downey spent the little spare time he had chipping paintwork and excavating a kitchen to open his first bar, Match EC1. In its first year, the bar won the Evening Standard Bar of the Year Award and has since gone from strength to strength in the hospitality market.
