Polo in the Park

05.06.15 - 07.06.15
Hurlingham Club, Fulham, London

After an inaugural event in 2013, which returned polo to central London for the first time since 1939, spectators at Hurlingham Park will once again be thrilled by an exhilarating display of strategy, nerve and horsemanship.

The Hurlingham Club, usually a private members' retreat, has an historic association with polo; it hosted the polo final at the 1908 Olympic Games, which was won by England.

Following the success of Twenty20 cricket, the rules of polo have been updated to make it more accessible for a wider range of spectators. There will be a smaller pitch, brightly coloured kits, red and yellow cards for foul play and a sin bin, as well as a new scoring system. The rule changes will make this adrenalin-fuelled sport even more fast and furious, while the London location will make it accessible for spectators.

There will be teams from a cosmopolitan range of cities competing - London, New York, Paris, Buenos Aires, Moscow, Geneva and Sydney. To promote a faster and more open game, Polo in the Park has introduced teams of 3-aside; where possible, one of the team members will be female.

As well as the action on the turf, there will be entertainment laid on for spectators, stalls selling a variety of food and a retail village.

NB 2015 dates are provisional.
