How Late is Fashionably Late?
It is traditionally the bride's prerogative to arrive 'fashionably late'. The belief that a little anticipation might make the bride's entrance all the more thrilling can introduce unnecessary tension.
Regarded with almost superstitious fervour by some and as pointless by others, consideration should be given to the groom. The longer she leaves it, the longer he is left at the front of the church.
Even if the bride's car pulls up on time, she will probably still be late, as it can take a good five minutes to get out of the car, meet the priest and get ready.
The bride should allow a few minutes to regain her composure and arrange the dress, veil, bouquet and so on.
The bride should, therefore, arrive at the ceremony venue approximately five minutes before the ceremony start-time. She will then walk up the aisle just a few fashionable minutes late, rather than keeping the congregation and her groom waiting for too long.
