Hong Kong Sevens

27.03.15 - 29.03.15
Hong Kong Stadium

A highlight of the Southeast Asian sporting calendar, this is a tournament that attracts rugby union’s top starts and thousands of spectators. Oraganised by the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU), the event takes place over three days – from Friday to Sunday.

The event dates back to 1976, with South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Japan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Fiji participating. The event then expanded to attract national sides from all the main rugby-playing nations, gained commercial sponsorship, and moved to the Hong Kong Stadium.

The Hong Kong Stadium is situated in Causeway Bay and is easily accessible by the Citybus shuttle service. The Hong Kong Sevens is famous for its party atmosphere, with many fans in fancy dress, Mexican waves, and streakers all adding to the fun. Outside the Stadium the Sevens Village is the focal point for drinking, partying and watching matches on large screens.
