Director-General of the BBC since 2012, Tony Hall has had a long and impressive career in television. He joined the BBC in 1973 as a news trainee and over the next 28 years progressed through the ranks to hold senior roles including senior producer of World at One, assistant editor of the Nine O’Clock News and chief executive of BBC News. While at the BBC, Hall was responsible for launching Radio 5 Live, BBC News 24, BBC News Online and BBC Parliament. He has also spent time as Deputy Chairman of Channel 4 Television and Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House.
