Civil Ceremony Music

A civil ceremony must not contain religious references, so hymns are not permitted.

Popular music, folk songs, ballet, classical music or opera is usually acceptable, but should be carefully checked for religious connotations and agreed to by the superintendent registrar.

There is likely to be music as the guests are seated, for the entrance of the bride, during the signing of the register and as the couple exit.
