Have your say: Best High-end ILC of 2014

Sony is honored by even appearing on the list. Sony has made long strides to provide photographers with better innovative products. Nikon and Canon need to take notice. Their laurals are getting crushed.

My vote goes to the GH4, followed by the A7S. Both were the most innovating (GH4 internal, workably compressed, stunning 4k video recording at a relatively low price point for the masses vs. A7S peerless high ISO performance for stills and especially video). I haven't seen any camera in the past that has compelled as many photographers and videographers at all levels to jump ship to mirrorless cameras like these particular cameras have.

They offer so many creative possibilities that just weren't feasible before: A7S allowing to shoot in conditions that were unheard of; and the GH4 4K footage cropping for stills that was only available to RED cinema camera and *shudders* 1DC owners.

The reason I gave the GH4 the edge over the A7S was that it was a more fully developed camera (vastly better battery life, lens selection, ergonomics and intuitive features etc.).

All the other cameras listed were amazing but none of them made the industry take more notice like the GH4/A7S.

Wow, suprised to see canon behind by miles. Also suprised to see a7 at top spot.

I don't have the raw data, but it appears there is no statistically significant difference between the Nikon D750, the Fuji X-T1, and the Sony A7II.

The only review I've read of the A7 II (on Cinema 5D) was less than impressive.

The Nikon vote may be suffering because it is split. The D810 has an amazing sensor. The D750 is arguably the best value and fits nearly all the high end features (except 1/8000 sec shutter and 1/250 flash sync) in best high end DSLR chassis. What we need is the D820...the D810 sensor in a D750 body. With 4k video.

The Sony A7s was game changing. Many cinematographers need to keep one in their kit just to handle low light circumstances. Now that 4k video recorders are becoming available that can explode. The next step up is video RAW recording which costs at least 3x as much, and usually 4x-5x as much.

That said all of these will pale compared to 2016's or 2017's cameras: 42Mp with 4k video from binning, 4:2:2 10-bit video out, EVF or maybe even enhanced OVF/EVF switchable viewfinder, flip screens, WiFi, etc.

Can't believe that A7 II is more popular than true mirrorless beasts (NX1-XT1-GH4) and Nikon D's.
Though A7s is absolutely brilliant. IMO it's a camera of the year.

I still can't figure out how to vote. All I get is the symbol with 4 arrows. PC using Internet Explorer.

They've been busy this year.

I'm curious what fuels the 'Most Popular Camera' widget on the right margin.
Is it page clicks on that camera's preview/review/announcement page?
Or is it the camera with the most 'I Own It' and 'I want It' counts or is it a combination of both.
Basing it on hit-counts is not a valid determinant IMHO due to the fact that many people just hit those pages to read the comments not because they have any interest in the camera.
*Case and Point - Cannon EOS 7D mark II-only 362 people want that.
More people want and own the Fuji XT1 and the Nikon D810 but neither of those are listed in the top 10 'Most Popular Cameras'.

A lot of trolls and entertainment seekers may not bother hitting the pages they visit if they knew it increased those cameras Popularity rankings. Maybe the comments should be on a separate page so reading them doesn't impact the hit counts for the camera itself and doesn't therefore skew what is 'Most Popular'. Or perhaps rename that widget to 'Most Discussed'.

No need to vote. From DPR's statistics above, it show that the Fuji X-T1 is going to be the winner. It shows 856 people own it and 669 want it. That tops all the other ones.

In the buying guide article about high end cameras, people were complaining about the D4S omission... but yet none of these people seem to be voting for it here...

My take..

1) NX1 - cause its first and apparently very good "pro" mirrorless from Samsung, also with some edge in various things, some are future stuff even

2) 645Z - "affordable" Sony based MF camera, could be better, but its very good as it is

3) D810 - cause Nikon finally made what they should do instead D800/e .. proper replacement for D700 too

Rest is sometimes interesting, sometimes not at all. Not sure why those votes for D750. Its "cheap" and? And nothing..
