Truefilm editing app for iOS receives major update

0

The image editing app Truefilm for iOS was first launched last year and combined functions for general editing, facial retouching and typography in a single app. Now the app has received a major update. Version 3 has not only improved the existing functions, but totally changed the feature set and direction of the app. The facial improvement and typography functions have gone and Truefilm now focuses on an editing feature set that aims to replicate desktop editing applications like Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture on an iPhone.

In addition to tools like highlight and shadow adjustment, clarity, graduated filters and brushes for local adjustments the app comes with built-in artificial intelligence features. The Autoedit feature automatically edits images and applies filters to your taste. It is self-learning, which means that it looks at your editing preferences while you are using the app and learns from them. In theory, the results of Autoedit should get better the more images you edit. Under the filter tab Truefilm also suggests filters to you, again based on the styles you applied in previous sessions.

In contrast to most other editing apps Truefilm completely makes do without any slider controls and instead uses a number-based control which according to the developers allows for more precise adjustments and fine-tuning. The market for iPhone editing apps is more than crowded but if this sounds interesting to you Truefilm 3.1 is available now in the Apple App Store for $2.99. It requires iOS 7.0 or later and is optimized for iPhone 5, 6 and 6 Plus.
