Become an Advocate

become an advocate

Advocates for suicide prevention can and do make a difference.

By educating the public, they change the way people think and talk about suicide and mental illness. By educating leaders and communities, they help to shape new laws and policies.

You, too, can make a difference by becoming a suicide prevention advocate. All it takes is the passion to inspire change in your own community.

If you have been touched personally by a suicide attempt, a suicide loss, or mental illness, or if you wish to make a change for the better for those who have been touched by these events, we hope you will join us in spreading the word that prevention is possible, and that public policies matter.

When you become a suicide prevention advocate, you join with the hundreds of others who make up AFSP’s Suicide Prevention Advocacy Network. Click on the links below to learn more.
